Blues Improvisation Solo
by Jody Worrell
This solo was improvised over "Third Degree" from Jody Worrell's upcoming Let's Jam! Blues Standards collection of jam tracks. "Third Degree" is a slow 12 Bar Blues in D that was co-written by guitarist Willie Dixon and pianist Eddie Boyd in 1953. The song was later covered by blues legends like Eric Clapton, Jeff Healey, and Johnny Winter. Jody's improvised solo lasts 24 measures and combines melodic runs, tasty bends, and blazing licks. The downloadable tab covers the notes and techniques used in the solo and the video can be used to work on the rhythm. The tab also has "time code" references before each riff so that you can easily find the section you wish to practice. We hope you enjoy tackling this solo and will check out Jody's other instructional material. Sign up for our mailing list to be alerted about new lessons and special offers.
