If control is what you are looking for, keep it short. Using the guitar’s artwork as a guideline, you want to keep the motion of strum around the range of the sound hole, pickguard, etc. If you’re strumming more aggresively, you can increase the range closer to the size of the guitar. You just want to make sure you’re not getting out of control and swinging your hand up near your face.
