A few weeks back we released a premium lesson called Em Acoustic Blues – Chords & Melody. First of all, thank you for the warm response to that lesson. Because of the feedback, Peter has written another original tune in the key of Am. This lesson starts off with a mixture or chords and riffs. Peter will then teach you an interesting progression and strum pattern. It’s a technique that involves strumming open strings with your right hand during the dead time when your left is switching between chords. This technique allows for a more constant beat or rhythmic pattern. Check out the demo or see more details about Am Acoustic Blues: Chords & Melody
Peter Vogl has a new free lesson on using chord substitutes called Beginning to Jazz Up a Chord Progression. In this video Peter will teach a simple progression using four chords (D, G, Em, and A7). You will then learn four substitutes for those chords that will also work (Dmaj7, G6/9, Em7, and A7b9). The video and chord charts are below. In general, chord subs allow you to add a bit of variety to your playing. They can be used when a song calls on you to play the same progression (say G,C,D) over and over for 3+ minutes. You can also use subs if you fall into a rut of using the same basic beginner chords when you create your own songs. To learn more about this subject check out Peter’s Premium lesson called Jazz Up This Chord Progression. The structure of the lesson is similar to the free video, but you’ll take a different progression and then learn nine different combinations of chord subs. The demo for that lesson is below as well.
Peter Vogl’s new free lesson for classical guitar will help you with the vibrato technique. On an electric guitar you move the strings slightly up and down to get this effect. On the classical guitar the fretted finger will move horizontally. This is a subtle effect but it will add a beautiful dynamic to your playing. Also be sure to check out Peter’s newest premium lesson for classical guitar that will teach you how to play Aura Lee
Peter Vogl has a new lesson out that will teach you a fingerstyle version of Aura Lee. You may recognize the melody of this song from Elvis Presley’s Love Me Tender. The lesson can be played on a classical or acoustic guitar and features one easy arrangement plus a second slightly harder version. Peter will teach you how to play this tune in detail with focus on right and left hand technique. Check out a preview of the lesson below:
