Jody Worrell has two new premium lessons that will teach you the basics of country guitar soloing. In Easy Country Solos 1 & 2 Jody will cover the same type of techniques he teaches in his more advanced lessons. However in this video, we’ll tackle them at a much more reasonable pace for the intermediate player. Jody will provide detailed instruction on how to play the array of twangy bends that help create country’s signature sound. Check out the lesson page or the demos below for more details.
The newest edition of our Let’s Jam Series of jam tracks features a collection of blues songs every guitarist should know. Let’s Jam! Blues Standards covers tracks that B.B. King, Albert King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, and other blues guitar heroes made famous. The included tracks are Before You Accuse Me, Cold Shot, The Thrill is Gone, Baby Please Don’t Go, Crosscut Saw, Help Me, It Hurts Me Too, Pride and Joy, Smokestack Lightnin’, and Third Degree. Each tune is roughly four minutes long and features rhythm guitar, bass, keyboards, and drums. Making it the perfect practice for you to work on new soloing ideas. You can also use it to work on rhythm when it’s not possible to practice with other musicians. Check out the product page for audio samples of each song. The included book contains chord charts, progression, suggested scale for soloing, and one tabbed out lick for each track.
Jody Worrell has a new two part lesson that will teach you an electric guitar solo over a rocking progression of A7, D7, and E7. In a break from using the Minor Pentatonic Scale, these solos follow the chord progression pretty closely. There are also parts of the solo where Jody will mimic and embellish the bass line from the track. The solos are taught in detail and then demonstrated along with the rhythm track. Each download includes a Quicktime video, a .pdf of the tabs, and four .mp3s to practice along with. Check out the Rockin 12 Bar Solo in A page for more information or just view the demos below.
Jody has created a new blues guitar solo video for Youtube. He improvised a solo over a jam track of “Third Degree” and then went back and tabbed the whole thing out. Which is kind of insane once you see how intense the solo gets. Take a look for yourself and then take a stab at playing it.
Jody Worrell’s newest two lessons will teach you to play guitar solos for Crosscut Saw. This blues standard was brought to fame in 1964 by Albert King. It has a rumba beat that distinguishes itself from a lot of other blues classics. Below you will find a video featuring the audio from Albert’s studio version of the song. I’ve also included a video of Eric Clapton performing a pretty faithful cover of the song live.
