We have a new lesson for bluegrass guitar beginners. This lesson is the first guitar lesson David Ellis has done for our site after previously creating our Beginning Dobro lessons. The premium download features easy arrangements of the bluegrass standards Wildwood Flower and Old Joe Clark. David starts by reviewing the chord progressions for each song and then teaches you how to play the single note melody lines. This is a great introduction to playing bluegrass and will help the less experienced guitarist move from playing rhythm toward flatpicking leads. Check out the Easy Flatpicking Songs 1 page for more details.
Guy Fenocchi’s new video will show you some of the different sounds you can make using the Anadime Chorus Pedal by Providence Effects. Guy will cover how adjusting the Depth and Speed knobs as well as the Deep switch affect your tone.
How can you improve you left hand speed for playing Guitar?
Slow Practice – Practice everything slow at first so that you can work on technique
Relax – Keep your hands, arms, shoulders, etc relaxed
Economy of Motion – Don’t let your fingers move any more than they are required to.
To learn more about playing fast, check out Peter’s premium Lines Built for Speed lesson.
The time constraints of the work week often force my longest practice sessions to happen on Friday and Saturday nights. As such, many of these one man jams also include short breaks for a sip of a beverage. But why should I settle for a drink with non guitar themed ice in my glass? Fred & Friends produces these ice molds in the shape of an electric guitar and the reviews on Amazon are overwhelmingly favorable. The molds are $9 and make three cubes at a time. Not a bad Father’s Day, Birthday, Christmas, or Thank You gift for the fellow guitar players or teachers in your life.
