Playing Octaves

Playing Octaves is a free guitar lesson by Peter Vogl that will show you how to play several guitar licks that use double stops featuring octave notes. Though we're playing over a hard rock jam track the 2nd and 3rd licks taught could also be applied to acoustic guitar. There's no one particular scale that fits over all of these licks but they all use the C Dorian Scale. We'll also practice these licks over track 12, C Tuned Rock, of the Let's Jam! Hard Rock. To learn more guitar licks that use octaves check out Jody Worrel's Intro to Octaves premium lesson.

Eric Johnson Guitar LessonIntro to Octaves by Jody Worrell is a Quicktime video lesson where we'll learn how to play some guitar licks that use octaves. An octave is the distance between a given note and the next higher or lower note of the same name. In these licks we'll produce a unique sound by playing a note and an octave note at the same time. We'll then play these licks over a funky groove jam track. $4.99
