G Minor Pentatonic & G Lydian

This free heavy metal guitar video lesson by Peter Vogl will show you how to play several rock and metal licks in the key of G. We'll use the G Minor Pentatonic scale in several postions and the G Lydian scale to create these licks. We'll also practice these licks over track 3, D.O.A. , of the Let's Jam! Hard Rock.

Let's take a look at lick 1


The next lick uses the Gm Pentatonic Scale in the open position and in the second position. So let's review those positions starting with the position

Now let's look at Lick 2


Lick #3 uses the G Lydian Scale which is a major scale with a raised 4th. Let's review that scale
