How to Read Guitar Chord Charts is a free video lesson for beginning guitarists by Peter Vogl. Chord Diagrams are the depictions that make up a chord chart. Like tabs, this is shorthand for letting you know what chord to play. By learning how to read the chart you will know which frets and strings to place your fingers on when playing a chord. This is an important skill to learn because many songs you learn will feature new chords that you don't have memorized. Try out your new skills with our Beginner Guitar Chords lesson.
Below are the examples of chord charts we will use in this lesson.
